Service Contracts

WHY BOTHER WITH A SERVICE CONTRACT? THE CASE FOR HAVING YOUR SECURITY SYSTEM SERVICED REGULARLY.

As daily living costs rise we all have to evaluate those expenses that are necessary and those that we can live without. For many, a service contract on their security system could be perceived as the latter but the reality is that failing to service your system is a false economy for the following reasons:

IT KEEPS YOUR SECURITY SYSTEM IN WORKING ORDER.

You’ve heard the phrase ‘prevention is better than the cure’, well that’s true for your security system. A regular annual service will keep your system in working order and will generally deal with any small niggling problems
before they become big ones. Wireless intruder alarm systems in particular need the batteries changing periodically: if it’s allowed to run down it will trigger the alarm which is both annoying and inconvenient and will require an engineer visit anyway.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A ANNUAL SERVICE?

A good service will consist of a thorough examination of all aspects of your security system in conjunction with the requirements of British Standards and the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB). For an intruder alarm system, the detectors will be checked at all points, as will the fuses and the battery. Additionally, for cctv all equipment will be cleaned (especially external cameras as the dirt can affect the overall performance). The overall functional capacity (how well does each component work? does the system as a whole work properly?) will also be assessed. The control panel of your alarm will usually store records (log) of all alarm activation’s, malfunctions and issues as does your cctv DVR. The engineer who comes to service the security system will check out this electronic report on the history of your alarm system’s life, and this will help to guide their decisions about how best to service your system. If any issues are discovered during the annual maintenance, the engineer who has come to service your system should be able to fix them there and then. When the service is complete, they should provide you with a full report of the service, the status of the system, and any repairs that took place.

ACCESS TO 24 HOUR EMERGENCY CALL OUT

Unfortunately, security systems don’t have consideration for sociable hours and can’t be relied upon to fault during office hours. With a service contract you get access to assistance around the clock with our 24-hour engineer call out. This means you can get the problem resolved quickly whatever time of day it is (and trust us, an alarm never sounds louder than at 2am!).

ACCESS TO TELEPHONE SUPPORT.

A lot of issues can be resolved quite easily, if you know what you’re doing. We have engineers available in the office all the time, and on call during out of office hours. This not only means that you get your security system working properly very quickly it can also prevent the need for an engineer visit which saves you money.

IT’S COST EFFECTIVE.

An annual service will of course cost you money each year but in the long term it usually works out more cost effective. Keeping your security system in working order helps to prevent problems developing, problems that would cost money to resolve. This also gives it a longer lifespan giving you more value for money from your initial investment.

Letting us look after your security systems means that you don’t have to worry. We’ll even remind you each year when it’s due. There’s no upfront cost, you simply pay for your service as it’s due.
To be placed on our service records, even if your alarm wasn’t installed by us, simply give us a call on 0161 213 9774.
